PARMA made a comeback and ended the losing streak

PARMA defeated MINSK at home – 78:73 (20:24, 27:19, 9:23, 22:7).

Seven MINSK players scored points in the opening quarter, so Rostislav Vergun  team finished the game start with a lead – 24:20.

In the second quarter, PARMA was able to seize the initiative with strong support. Richard Solomon dominated the paint, B.J. Johnson made a series of shots. The forwards combined for 29 points in the half, giving the Perm team a lead after the first half – 47:43.

After the halftime, the Minsk team was better on defence, allowing PARMA to score only 9 points in 10 minutes. Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson and Jakob Cebasek led MINSK offence with a 12-2 run towards the end of the third quarter. Rostislav Vergun team led by 10 before the final quarter – 56:66.

Key moment
PARMA managed to start a comeback – Johnson and Solomon efforts restored the score 5 minutes before the end of the regulation. Ruslan Abdulbasirov and Isaiah Reese pick and rolls allowed the Perm team to get a 4-point lead. MINSK cut the deficit to a minimum, but Aleksandr Platunov increased the lead of PARMA to 3 points on the return possession. In the final possession, MINSK players failed to make a shot and missed a chance to take the game into overtime.

X-factor
The key aspect of the game for the Perm team was dominance on rebounds. Evgeny Pashutin team made 27 offensive rebounds – almost five times more than their opponent. That compensated for the low field-goal percentage and helped PARMA get the win.

Fact
Richard Solomon had a double-double tonight – the centre had 17 points and 16 rebounds. Thus, the PARMA player became only the fourth player to achieve this statistical achievement in the new season.
