Latvian center Martins Meiers (208 cm, 108 kg) has joined Enisey Krasnoyarsk.
Meiers started the season at UNICS Kazan, but subsequently left the club.
From 2015-2017, the big man played for VEF Latvia, averaging 11.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists.
Enisey director Vladimir Petrokovsky:
– We looked at signing Meiers this summer, but he decided to join UNICS. In the end, he wasn’t happy with the amount of playing time he was getting. Our other center Ellis is a young, promising player. I think he’ll be a solid center and highly sought after in 2-3 years. With his physical attributes and style of play, he’s very similar to Elegar, who was a star for us last season. It’s just that centers mature much later. They don’t learn to control their bodies until age 27-28 or how to take advantage of their gifts.
