CSKA leaves no chance to Zielona Gora and continues to pursue the leaders

CSKA defeated Zielona Gora on the road – 93:59 (23:19, 32:13, 20:15, 18:12).

CSKA: Iffe Lundberg (18 + 5 rebounds + 5 assists), Semen Antonov (14), Nikola Milutinov (13 + 10 rebounds).

Game progress
CSKA in the previous game with Lokomotiv Kuban was able to end the 2-losses streak in the VTB League and continued the road to the Top-3. Zielona Gora came to the game with only one win in nine games and the 11th place in the standings.

The game was began by Lundberg-Milutinov duo domination: their 9 points in the 1st possessions and 11:2 already three minutes after the start. The guests recovered quite quickly and tried to adjust the game. Gura regularly managed to score in the paint, but Semen Antonov’s 3-pointer and Marius Grigonis’ actions at the end of the 1st quarter allowed CSKA to maintain the lead – 23:19.

Johannes Voigtmann gave a new momentum to the Army team. The German forward became the main creator of the 7-point run at the start of the 2nd quarter, the guests’ lead became 11 points. This time Zielona Gora tried to reverse the course of the game by quick offense, but failed to get close to the opponent. The Army team managed to turn on in defense in time, continuing to use their strengths in offense. Nikola Milutinov, Tornike Shengelia and Semen Antonov initiated 19:0 run, and CSKA  advantage became 20 points by the halftime – 55:32.

After another made shot by Nikita Kurbanov at the beginning of the 3rd quarter, the guests’ lead reached 30 points. The result of the game was cleader long before its end. The Army team continued to score any shots from any distance, and Zielona Gora gave up trying to win back.

CSKA takes away a confident win from Poland and rises to 3rd place in the standings – 93:59.

Heroes
Semen Antonov and Nikola Milutinov – the Russian-Serbian duo played a key role the Army team’s run in the 2nd quarter, and was also incredibly useful on both sides of the court. Nikola got a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Semen updated his personal best this season – 14 points.

Numbers
19 – CSKA players scored 19 in a row at the end of the 1st half. This run helped the Army team to make a comfortable lead and soon remove all the questions about the winner of this game.

– Very tough game for us. CSKA Moscow has more quality than we have, they play on higher physical level. For sure, we should be ready to answer, but we wasn’t ready today. CSKA proved their strength, I am glad they didn’t underestimated us, they played on 100% focus.
