Shawn King was the only to represent this small Caribbean island. In 2008, the center graduated from Oral Roberts university and his professional career began in Slovenia.

In 2010/11, King played for Minsk-2006. His record with the club is 10 games with an average of 12.8 points and 8.8 rebounds.

In 2015/16 season, King came back to VTB United League to play 14 games for Kalev. In Tallinn, his average was 15.0 points and 12.8 rebounds.

Shawn King set VTB United League top result in rebounds. On April 24, 2016, the center made 25 rebounds in Kalev vs Tsmoki-Minsk game. Moreover, he is ranked .1st in all-time VTB League rebounds per game. His overall result is 11.13 points.

There are men’s and women’s league in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. That’s how their poster looked back in 2013. And this is the example from 2015.

Furthermore, the country has The Sunshine basketball academy which aims at improving perosnal skills of the athletes.

In 2019. Rohan Providence was elected the president of Saint Vincentian basketball federation. The same year, he took part in FIBA congress that was held in China during the World Cup.

Interesting fact

In 2019/20 NCAA season, there were 3 St Vincentian players in NCAA which is their top result. Darreo Glasgow represented Central Florida university, forward Consolo Adams played for District Columbia university and Opong Bramble wore New York Tech jersey.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines had joined FIBA in 1984, but it took them 18 years to make international debut. The team started with the Caribbean countries Cup.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has 5 appearances at the Carribean Cup. Their best result was in 2015, when Shawn King was with the team. The Vincies won 2 of 4 at the regular stage games (outplayed Cayman islands 80:71 and Barbados 70:63) but didn’t proceed to the playoffs because of tie-break regulations. In 5-8th places cup, they had a tight win over Bermuda (74:73) and a loss from Suriname (80:87).

Currently Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is ranked 109th in FIBA rating (23 among the American teams).

Most famous Vincy players in history

Adonal Foyle. 1997 NBA draft no. 8, best rebounding player of 1996/97 NCAA. The center played 12 season in the NBA (733 games) for Golden State, Orlando and Memphis.

Shawn King. 2-time Slovenian league MVP, Polish league MVP and winner of Slovenia Cup. King also played in Belarus, Ukraine, France, Italy and Estonia.
