Voting wrapped up yesterday at noon Moscow time. Fans had a chance to vote for their favorite players on social media from December 6 to January 9. Based on those results, 65 players have been revealed as candidates for the 1st-ever VTB United League All-Star Game.
– During the second stage, leading Russian and foreign media will participate in the voting, – noted League general director Ilona Korstin. – They have been asked to create the teams–Russian Stars and World Stars–which will each have 12 players. An important condition is that neither team can have more than two players from one club. In addition to 20 media representatives, we will also include highly-regarded TV broadcasters, Vladimir Gomelsky and Roman Skvortsov.
Once the media votes, we’ll release the final rosters. On February 1, the coaches selected by the League will name the starting rosters. In addition, we’re going to hold a dunk contest and shooting contest at the All-Star Game. The best dunkers and snipers from around the League will get special invitations. It should be an unforgettable evening for the fans!
