Today, April 18 at the House of Basketball, the Russian Basketball Federation’s Executive Committee approved signing a supplemental agreement to the Contract on organizing and holding the Russian men’s basketball championship between VTB United League teams and the Youth championship.
The VTB United League prepared supplements to the Contract from September 30, 2015 given the changes to the federal law “On physical culture and sports in the Russian Federation” made last year. In accordance with the law, the Contract has been extended to the end of the 2018-19 with an option to extend for four more years.
– Changes to legislation made it necessary to re-sign the contract between the League and RBF, – noted Ilona Korstin. – I’m glad that all the parties addressed the issue promptly and responsibly. As a result, we didn’t receive a formal extension, but rather an opportunity for development and long-term planning of the League’s activity. I want to note the professionalism of the RBF and, specifically, Andrei Kirilenko. We have excellent communication and that makes a huge difference in our work.
