The VTB United League President Sergey Kushchenko took part in the «Expo Basket 2022» conference. Within the framework of the Infrastructure development, he answered the question of how to improve the popularization of basketball in the regions of the country.
– In big and small sports facilities that are being built near the tourist cluster, there are not enough managers who could try to turn this whole system into an income-generating business. The state and private investors invest a lot of money in projects, but there is no return – let’s be realistic. And there are people, managers who will try to do this in the regions, but they need to create conditions.
Figuratively speaking, let’s take a basketball court in the Perm Region village, which we built for our own money. But there is simply no person there who can be creative there every day and try to earn something. We just need to build logistics: who should come there and when? Who can pay for this product? And then, under certain conditions, this scheme can start working.
