Sergey Kushchenko, President of the VTB United League, is participating in the “Russia—A Sporting Power” forum.
From October 21 to 23, Krasnoyarsk is hosting the international sports forum “Russia—A Sports Powerhouse,” which serves as the largest platform for interaction among participants in the sports industry in our country.
The event brings together representatives of federal and regional government agencies, athletes, the business community, and the media for a comprehensive discussion of key issues, solutions, and future plans for the development of the sports industry.
As part of the forum, the president of the United League participated in the opening of the “Legacy of Champions” international youth tournament, organized by Olympic champion Sergey Tarakanov, NBA champion Timofey Mozgov, the Russian Basketball Federation, and the Krasnoyarsk Krai Basketball Federation.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko opened the training center of the “Enisey” Academy. The opening ceremony was attended by Sergey Kushchenko, president of the United League; Anatoly Seryshev, plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District; Mikhail Kotyukov, governor of the Krasnoyarsk Krai; as well as Timofey Mozgov, Sergey Tarakanov, Sergey Monya, and Vladimir Dyachok. The United League presented the Enisey Academy with the official championship balls—the “EcoBalls.”
Sergey Valentinovich spoke at the session “Sports as an Event: The Formula for a Successful Project,” took part in a friendly match, and attended the grand opening of the “House of Sports” pavilion.
Sergey Kushchenko, President of the VTB United League:
– Forums like this provide an opportunity for people who work directly in the sports industry on a daily basis to connect. Here, we can share experiences—or, to put it in modern terms, tools for promotion, content development, and audience growth.
Essentially, these are live, practical discussions where you can immediately learn what solutions colleagues from other sports are using and how they’re achieving success.
For example, there was a very interesting presentation today by a representative of the skateboarding community from Ryazan. Using simple examples, he explained how a single jump by an athlete can garner 50 million views. This is an interesting experience from the perspective of content creation and promotion. Such tools can also be useful in basketball.
Another important advantage of these platforms is the opportunity for direct communication. Regional sports ministers, officials, and leaders of regions, sports federations, and professional leagues all come together here.
A professional community is taking shape that allows us to share experiences, discover new tools, and apply them in our work. Moreover, these solutions can be useful not only for basketball, but also for soccer, hockey, and other sports.
Of course, there are some very advanced examples and success stories, particularly in the KHL. But the VTB United League also has its own experience that we can share with our colleagues.
Therefore, the value of such forums lies first and foremost in live communication, the exchange of practical knowledge, and the opportunity to adopt the best solutions for developing the sport, promoting content, and attracting new audiences.
