PARMA – CSKA. Preview October 18

As part of the regular season, PARMA will host CSKA Moscow.

Monday, October 18

PARMA (Russia) — CSKA Moscow (Russia)

Time: 19:00 (17:00 Moscow time)
Location: Russia, Perm, UDS Molot
Broadcast: Match TV, League website
Rivalry history: 10 games, CSKA — 9 wins, PARMA – 1 win

PARMA: Despite the seemingly catastrophic difference in personal games, the rivalry between Perm and CSKA since Ural Great days has always been very hot. A year ago, the Perm Krai team once again proved this by sensationally winning back  -22 and beating the Army team for the first time in their history. And it happened not even in the walls of the UDS Molot, where PARMA usually play with triple zeal, but on the road. However, the author of the decisive shot in that game, Maksim Grigoriev, no longer plays for the Ural team. This season PARMA started successfully: they beat Opava in the FIBA Europe Cup and got  the win over Tsmoki, the main character of which was Marex Meyeris. There, by the way, Mejeris also shone, becoming the top scorer with 18 points.

CSKA: For CSKA, this week brought both good and bad news. Tornike Shengelia, demonstrating a phenomenal game at the start of the season, was recognized as the MVP of the week in the Euroleague for the second time in a row. In the winning game with Zenit, Shengelia set a personal best in the Euroleague, scoring 33 points. But the same game turned into trouble — the Georgian sniper injured his shoulder and will definitely not take part in Friday’s Euroleague game against Crvena Zvezda, nor in the duel with PARMA. Despite the depth of the red-blue squad, at the beginning of the season they are suffering very serious losses (Nikola Milutinov and Marius Grigonis are also injured), which will not be easy to compensate for. Kenneth Farid’s arrival will certainly remove some of the problems, but he will arrive in Moscow no earlier than Friday and is unlikely to be able to help the team in the upcoming games.

Who to follow: Serious problems of CSKA in the front line (now the Army team has only three bigmen) will certainly force Dimitris Itoudis to give a chance to Vladimir Ivlev, who has not yet appeared on the floor this season. If this happens in this round, then Ivlev will make his debut just in a game with the team in which spent last season.
