Participants in the Sort Right contest for social-ecological initiatives organized by the Ministory of Natural Resources and Environment were honored today at the ECOTECH forum in Moscow. The contest was part of the Year of Ecology in Russia.
The VTB United League received an award for best project in the area of popularizing and demonstrating how to recycle for its BasketBottle ecological initiative.
League general director Ilona Korstin:
– Together with SIBUR, the VTB League was able to introduce plastic recycling at our games in less than a year by inviting fans and VTB League players–role models for our youth–to support the initiative by playing #basketbottle.
Every arena in the League now has special baskets for recycling, while the plastic waste is sent to recycling facilities following games. The Year of Ecology in Russia is coming to a close, but the VTB United League season will continue as will our responsible approach to properly sorting plastics and other waste.
