Vasilina was born prematurely and was very small. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at six months. Intensive massage therapy was used, along with physical therapy, water treatments, equine therapy and other forms of rehab. More than anything, Vasilina’s dream is to be able to walk. She needs a special pediatric chair that will help her continue to interact with the world around her, connect with people and grow. In order to take the next steps in her battle with illness, Vasilina needs to undergo treatment at the Rodnik rehab center in St. Petersburg.
ANASTASIA president Marina Shamara:
– Vasilina is a very driven girl. She does rehab every day, which is why she’s had success. She attends a public school and enjoys music, drawing, and creative arts. I’m confident we can raise the necessary funds with the help of the All-Star Game spectators, nearly half a million rubles. The family has no money and her mother raises her alone.
VTB United League general director Ilona Korstin:
– The All-Star Game is more than a glamorous basketball showcase: It’s also an opportunity to do good. Last year in Sochi, we partnered with the Walk Together foundation and fans to raise 230,000 rubles to help Ariana Bukate, who has cerebral palsy. This time in St. Petersburg we can help Vasilina. Together, we can do something big: Make this child’s life better.
