Krasnodar has been named host of the 4th VTB United Youth League Final Eight, to be held April 30 – May 2.
The top eight regular-season teams will compete in the tournament with the VTB United Youth League championship on the line. The quarterfinals will be held on April 30, semifinals on May 1 and the championship game on May 2. Losing teams will also compete for places 3rd-8th.
– It’s no accident we chose Krasnodar to host the VTB United Youth League Final Eight, – notes VTB United League general director Ilona Korstin. – The city has truly embraced the game in recent years: The Russian national team played in Krasnodar for the first time, Lokomotiv-Kuban enjoyed success in the EuroLeague and has the highest attendance in the VTB United League, while Loko’s youth project has twice won the Russian championship and given the League players like Andrei Zubkov, Maxim Kolyushkin and Pavel Korobkov. In addition, Krasnodar opened Russia’s first basketball boarding academy in 2013.
I’m confident that the Final Eight will also be a memorable event on the city’s sports calendar. In turn, the fans will have a chance to see young Russian stars in action. Some of them could be in the VTB United League very soon. We look forward to welcoming basketball fans to the Basket Hall’s auxiliary arena!
