UNICS guard Keith Langford talked about the win over Tsmoki-Minsk (98-71), and also commented on breaking the League scoring record with 42 points.
– What are your thoughts on the record?
– We’d lost three games in a row, so this win was really important. No matter who the opponent is, my job is putting the ball in the basket. If I score points, that’s their problem, not mine.
– Did your scoring have anything to do with Ponkrashov’s injury?
– I scored a lot with Ponkrashov, too. Last year, as far as I remember, I scored 36 and 37 points with him. It’s not because we lost Anton. I do everything I can to help the team win. Sometimes you see it with my scoring; other times, it’s other areas of the game.
– After the game against Barcelona, you said you weren’t in the best shape. Has that changed?
– I feel better. After Barcelona, I was talking more about my mental preparation. I hesitated a lot and wasn’t aggressive enough. Of course, you need to do more than just be aggressive when you score points. But it’s important not to be afraid of missing or making mistakes.
– Should we expect this type of offense against Fenerbahce?
– I’ll try. If I shoot 0-12, I’ll analyze the game and keep trying, trying, and trying. I’m not afraid.
– After the game against CSKA, you said you weren’t happy about your scoring since you lost. Are you happy now?
– Obviously. I’m really happy that we won and that I’m in peak condition. I’m 33 years old; it’s not as easy as it looks. You see what I do during games. But you don’t know everything that happens at practice.
– Some people say it’s impossible to win in the Euroleague with only one person.
– We need to find out. I don’t know if that’s true or not. Right now, I enjoy playing and I like what I’m doing.
