Lokomotiv-Kuban Krasnodar has signed Lithuanian forward Jonas Maciulis to a contract per the club’s official website. The agreement with Maciulis runs to the end of the season. The Lithuanian began the season at Real Madrid, mutually agreeing to void the contract at the beginning of March. The forward had played in Madrid since 2014 and won the EuroLeague in 2015, three Spanish Cup trophies and two Liga Endesa championships.
Maciulis played in 22 EuroLeague games this season, averaging 3 points and 1.8 rebounds in 12 minutes on the court. He also appeared in 13 Liga Endesa games, averaging 4.2 points, 2.9 rebounds in 16 minutes on the court.
Maciulis previously played for Zalgiris, Olimpia Milano, Baltai and Panathinaikos.
Lokomotiv-Kuban president Andrey Vedishchev:
– We are in a tough spot because of losing our leader Ryan Broekhoff at the worst possible time with only a day and a half until the League’s registration period closes. Signing Maciulis increases our potential in the VTB United League. Jonas is an experienced, physical player with leadership qualities. I’m confident he will have an impact in big games.
Lokomotiv-Kuban forward Jonas Maciulis:
– I’m very happy I was so quick to receive an offer to become a part of Loko. I hope I can help the club battle for titles and be useful on the court.
