The VTB United League Board took place on May 24. Following the results, a press conference was held with the Honorary President of the League Sergey Ivanov, the President of the League Sergey Kushchenko and the General Manager Ilona Korstin.
The VTB United League General Manager Ilona Korstin:
– In the 2022/23 season there were 1576 broadcasts, twice as many as in the 2021/22 season. The United League games were watched by 576 million viewers, that is 3 times more than in the previous season. Also the audience in social networks has increased by 40%. There has also been an increase of attendance – there were sold-outs in both the regular season and in the playoffs. The average attendance for the League game went up to 3,000 fans. Of course, this is great. We are happy and we understand that the decisions we made at the last Board meeting and the surprises from the clubs in the regular season and playoffs have helped to increase the interest to United League.
This year the League Champion got 10 million rubles in prize money and next year we’ll increase the bonuses – the winner will get 15 million. In total, we will increase the total bonus pool by 50 million rubles – it will be 200 million.
