The EuroCup Board met today in Barcelona.
The board was created last season and includes the Spanish League (ACB), Adriatic League, VTB United League as well as Lithuania’s Lietuvos Rytas and Germany’s Alba.
The VTB United League was represented by general director Ilona Korstin and official League representative to EuroLeague, FIBA and other international organizations, Jiri Zidek.
Last season, four VTB United League clubs competed in the EuroCup: Zenit, Khimki, Lokomotiv-Kuban and Nizhny Novgorod. Three teams (Zenit, Loko, Khimki) reached the quarterfinals and Lokomotiv-Kuban ultimately advanced to the semifinals.
The board reviewed the season’s results, discussed the competition’s sporting and marketing regulations, as well as examined the financial plan for the upcoming season.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the preliminary roster for the 2017-18 season was presented. Among the 24 teams included are three VTB United League teams: Zenit St. Petersburg, Lokomotiv-Kuban Krasnodar and UNICS Kazan.
The final roster of teams in the 2017-18 EuroCup will be approved at the EuroLeague board in July.
