VTB League general director Ilona Korstin – a member of RBF Executive Committee – commented on the committee meeting,
“RBF Executive Committee approved current rankings of VTB League Russian teams as of the date of the last match played, without assigning champion’s title and prize places. The decision was made unanimously. We followed recommendations of Russian Ministry of Sports and current rankings without champion’s title were approved not only in Russian championship, but in other professional men Leagues including VTB Youth League.
The Regulations did not have a provision for such an extraordinary situation which led to misunderstanding. Now, thanks to amends, it clearly reads that VTB United League determines the order of defining the winners and prize places holders of the Russian championship. Subsequently, RBF Executive Committee approves the data submitted.”
