Moscow hosted Friendship Game of the Second International KES-BASKET Super Cup with the support of its long-term partner – VTB United League.
KES-BASKET School Basketball League project is the most large-scale social and sports project that has been implemented in our country and beyond for 17 years. Teams from 80 regions of Russia take part in the tournament. The participants of the Friendship Game represented different regions of Russia and even different countries: Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Turkey, Abkhazia.
Within the framework of the International KES-BASKET Super Cup among school teams the Friendship Game was organised, in which the All-Russian KES-BASKET team and the International KES-BASKET Super Cup team took part.
VTB United League President Sergey Kushchenko and VTB United League General Director Ilona Korstin supported the large-scale basketball project and participated in the Friendship Game.
Together with Kushchenko and Korstin, the Friendship Game was attended by: RFB President AndreY Kirilenko, Pari NN President SergeY Panov, 6-time Russian champion Aleksey Savrasenko, Olympic bronze medalist Viktor Khryapa, and VTB United League Hall of Fame member Sergey Monia. The game ended with the score 70:68 – the win by All-Russian KES-BASKET team.
Sergey Kushchenko, VTB United League President:
– KES-BASKET demonstrates how much this project means to its participants. Look at the guys who got into KES-BASKET many years ago. They are successful, confident, know how to play basketball, make passes and score three-pointers. There are girls who have experienced many issues in life, but it is basketball that makes it bright and full. If it is also a favorite game, it is not just basketball, but a whole happiness associated with the game.
This is the second year we are hosting the International Game and the expansion is in line with our capabilities. We invite foreign teams to the SuperCup, despite the complicated logistics. The guys from KES-BASKET brought teams from 8 countries, and it wasn’t easy for them either. But what unites us? Basketball! The game is expanding because it is loved by everyone involved in the project: us in the office, the ASB, and KES-BASKET. This love and dedication give the necessary result. Of course, we should not forget about the company, which believed in the project many years ago and continues to support it.
I have a personal feeling that there are many such projects. They often start as fleeting ideas that become social elevators. And there it is, the real social elevator is the children, the orthopedists, the judges, the managers who have come into the system because of the project. The most important thing is that the work does not stop. Thanks to everyone involved in this project. Your efforts are invaluable!
