CSKA head coach Emil Rajkovic has been named the 2022-23 VTB United League Coach of the Year.
CSKA won 30 out of 32 games and the regular season. The Army team defeated Avtodor 3-0 in the first round and is facing Lokomotiv Kuban in the Semifinals.
CSKA has set 5 League records: Best start of the season (24-0), longest winning streak (24 straight wins), 30 wins in a single regular season, 14 games with 100 or more points and best regular season scoring average (95.6 points per game).
– I am very honored to receive the award, – Rajkovic said. But I do believe that this trophy is given to the team, all players, coaches, staff and management, not to one single person. Our team did deserve all the credit for the excellent season so far, for the wins and all the records. Though the most important goal is still ahead, all our thoughts are about the next games which has the bigger importance.
The first winner was head coach Rimas Kurtinaitis, Vasily Karasev in 2015/16, Dimitris Itoudis in 2014/15, 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2021/22 seasons, head coach Emil Rajkovic in 2019/20 and Xavi Pascual in 2020/21 season.
