Turning Point
Kalev started strong against the reigning champs, trailing by a point at the end of the 1st quarter. Rain Veideman even put the Estonians on top, 20-19, early in the 2nd, but that was the last time Kalev would threaten.
The Army Men took control of the contest at the free-throw line and on the perimeter, knocking down 11 freebies and three 3-pointers in the 2nd quarter to amass a 13-point lead at halftime.
Kalev competed hard and even enjoyed a 24-21 edge in the final period, but CSKA’s depth and big night on the perimeter (11-22) were too much to overcome.
Dimitris Itoudis’s club improves to a league-best 6-0; Kalev drops to 2-4.
Stat
22-6 – CSKA outscored Kalev by 16 in second-chance points, largely thanks to 17 offensive rebounds.
