The VTB United Youth League Final Eight was capped by a CSKA-Junior championship today in Samara. The Army Men defeated home team Samara-2 in the final, 78-74.
The championship game was packed with drama, going down to the final seconds as CSKA-Junior came away with a win.
Andrey Lopatin (18 points and 10 rebounds) and Makar Konovalov (10 points and five assists) led the Army Men in scoring. Agasy Tonoyan (21 points, eight rebounds, six steals) and Filipp Stoiko (14 points) powered Samara.
CSKA-Junior has won four consecutive VTB United Youth League titles.
Andrey Lopatin was named the Samara Final Eight MVP. He averaged 13.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and a 14.0 efficiency rating in the tournament.
Joining Lopatin on the All-Tournament team are guards Elkhan Akhmedov (Khimki-2) and Alexander Platunov (PARMA-2), plus forwards Ilya Platonov (Lokomotiv-Kuban-2) and Agasy Tonoyan (Samara-2).
CSKA-Junior coach Maxim Sharafan was named Coach of the Year.
