CSKA’s junior team captured the VTB United Youth League title today in Krasnodar, defeating Khimki-2 in the championship game, 70-61. The title came down to the 4th quarter as Alexander Kurbatov (14 points, 7 rebounds) and Alexander Gavrilov (13 points) led CSKA-2 to victory. Khimki was led by Pavel Lobarev (15 points) and Timofei Yakushin (11 points).
CSKA-2 has now won the VTB United Youth League three years in a row.
Alexander Kurbatov was named the Final Eight MVP. The CSKA-2 center averaged 18.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and a 22.7 efficiency rating.
Kurbatov was joined by Alexander Gavrilov (CSKA-2), Timofei Yakushin (Khimki-2), Ilya Usoltsev (Lokomotiv-Kuban-2) and Daniil Sinegubov (Samara-2) on the all-tournament team.
CSKA-2 boss Andrei Maltsev was named coach of the year.
