BETCITY PARMA wins the Ural derby. Game Recap and Highlights

Perm defeated Yekaterinburg on the road, 86–71 (25–17, 20–27, 23–17, 18–10).

Main Story
The Ural derby got off to a high-scoring start. The teams traded three-pointers and solid defensive plays, preventing each other from taking control. However, Uralmash was unable to keep up with the fast pace, and Perm ultimately controlled the final three minutes. Their 10-0 run allowed them to take an 8-point lead. Evgeny Pashutin’s team was unable to hold onto the lead due to an increase in turnovers. They committed 5 turnovers in the second 10-minute period, which the home team capitalized on, cutting the deficit to a minimum by halftime.

After halftime, the game remained close, but PARMA once again finished the period strongly, entering the final quarter with a 7-point lead.

The Clutch Moment
The start of the final 10-minute period proved decisive, as the visitors took control. They grabbed several offensive rebounds and, following a three-pointer by Tyrell Nelson, took a double-digit lead for the first time in the game. After that, Uralmash’s offense completely fell apart, and they were unable to save themselves.

X-Factor
The key to success was play under the boards. The Perm team grabbed several crucial rebounds in the fourth quarter. The visitors finished with 47 rebounds (13 offensive), while Uralmash had 37 (13 offensive).

Press Conference
Uralmash Head Coach Anton Yudin :
– Unfortunately, our first home game turned out to be a real disappointment for us. It’s probably hard to pinpoint the exact reasons right now. We’ll watch the video, analyze it, and figure it out. The first half went pretty well for us. We couldn’t contain Fobbs, but I’ll say that he made some easy shots. Other players also made a lot of easy shots. We often defended well for 15, 17, or 18 seconds, but then we’d lose our focus and give up easy points. We corrected that in the second quarter, but after halftime we made the same mistakes again. Unfortunately, I don’t know what to attribute this to.
I don’t want to jump to any conclusions right after the game. This is especially true for the fourth quarter. PARMA started to adjust their strategy against us. They put three big men on the court; sometimes even Svinin played as the shooting guard. And we, unfortunately, stopped attacking as a team; we tried to do everything on our own, individually, which led to a lot of missed shots. Naturally, when we attack like that, our defense often suffers. So the second half—especially the final quarter—is certainly a major setback for us and, I hope, a valuable lesson. We’ll review the game, draw conclusions, and try to fix what didn’t work.

PARMA Head Coach Evgeny Pashutin:
– I want to thank the fans. Three buses arrived today, and it’s becoming a tradition for the entire stands to be decked out in our colors: white, blue, and orange. I want to say thank you because you could really feel the connection between the local fans and ours—they supported us very well. We responded the right way to the loss to Zenit. Unfortunately, Primo got injured and was sent home, but fortunately, it turned out not to be that serious: his recovery will take one and a half to two weeks, or maybe even just a week. BJ Johnson had a fever of almost 38 degrees today; he was feeling a bit weak. The doctor gave him some pills, so he didn’t have his usual energy. Uralmash is a very strong team; not many teams can win here, so for us this is a big victory and a big step forward. We’re still in the process of developing and finding chemistry. Today we tried different combinations—even ones we don’t always practice in training—and it worked.
