Build-Up
Avtodor challenged Parma to a shootout and the visitors accepted readily. Saratov’s superior ball movement and 5-6 shooting from downtown gave them a 12-point lead in the opening (33-21). Parma was better in the 2nd quarter, holding Avtodor 23 points, but even Ivan Ukhov’s buzzer-beater before the half meant it was still a 14-point deficit (56-42).
Turning Point
After back-to-back 3-pointers from Evgeny Kolesnikov and Nick Minnerath, Avtodor surged ahead by 20 to start the 3rd quarter. Parma continued to battle, even outscoring the home team by five in the 3rd quarter. But Saratov was able to take care of business down the stretch, putting up 35 points in the final quarter for an 11-point win.
Thanks to Astana’s loss in Nizhny Novgorod, Avtodor can still finish in 8th place, but it needs to win its final three games and hope Astana doesn’t win again.
Stat
51 – Avtodor’s three-point field-goal percentage. When Saratov is hot from outside, they are almost impossible to stop from scoring.
