Avtodor continues to win with Dario Russo

Avtodor beat Enisey in the regular season game at home – 86:81 (20:21, 18:18, 26:16, 22:26).

Game progress

Avtodor and Enisey did not start the season as expected. The Saratov and Krasnoyarsk teams had 9th and 10th places before the face-to-face game – 3-7 and 2-8. The Volga team replaced Milos Pavichevic with Darko Russo, and he already got the win over Samara

Angelo Warner shot in the opening allowed Enisey to take the lead, but Avtodor did not let the opponent go and quickly equalised the game. The whole first half went like this: the Siberian team made attempts to break away, but Avtodor controlled the game.

The Krasnoyarsk team had the biggest lead in the middle of the second quarter, when  Vladislav Trushin scored 2 three-pointers, the team led by 9 points. Enisey had a good chance to make double-digit lead, but the guests soon made three mistakes in one possession. And Evgeniy Kolesnikov immediately responded with the three. Evgeniy Minchenko actions helped Avtodor to finally return to the game. The first 20 minutes of the game was ended by Enisey lead — 39:38.

The third quarter began with Enisey 6:0 run. Avtodor this time not only comeback, but also took the lead. The Saratov team caught the courage with Ryan Boatwright scored 9 points in just 1 minute. Brandon Garrett supported him and at the last minute the Krasnoyarsk team again violated the rules during a long–range shot attempt – this time by Malik Newman. And the quarter ended 64:55 on the scoreboard.

In the fourth quarter, Drazen Anzulovic tried the zone defense, and Avtodor responded with 3-pointers from Newman and Danilo Nikolic. Then 2 consecutive three-pointers by Yauheni Beliankou allowed the Krasnoyarsk team to send the opponent into the tense ending– 84:80.

The key moment

40 seconds before the end, Enisey had a great opportunity when Warner shot three-pointer. He missed it, Boatwright took a rebound and made a coast to coast which ended with a dunk. In the remaining time, Avtodor held the lead and took the second win with the new head coach.

Hero

Ryan Boatwright. Avtodor offense leader was the best in scoring (22) and assisting (8 assists), he also had 3 rebounds and 2 steals. The guard helped in the decisive moments of the game, when he made a rebound and scored the detective points.

Numbers

75 – that’s how many points Avtodor let opponents score per game with Russo. After joining the team, the coach said that “to win, you need to play in defense every second of the game.” During the 5-game loosing streak, the Volga team missed 94.2 points per game.
