In the first Nizhny Novgorod game of the season against Khimki at home, Astapkovich set career-high, scoring 34 points. Nizhny won in Khimki for the first time since 2018. Nizhny beat Khimki at home for the first time since 2015 (96:85).
Forward became the most valuable player on the court adding 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and 41 efficiency points to 34 points in 36 minutes on the court. In this game Astapkovich set career-highs in scoring, efficiency, threes made (6) and two-pointers made (6).
The performance of the year award is held since 2017/18 season. Its first owner was Nizhny Novgorod player Stevan Jelovac: in the game against Kalev the Serbian center scored 49 points (League’s record), 15 rebounds and 55 efficiency points.
In the 2018/19 season CSKA guard Nando de Colo won this award, helped the army team make 18-point comeback in Saratov and outclass Avtodor in overtime (116:110). The guard scored 41 points, 9 rebounds and 43 efficiency points.
