Lokomotiv Kuban president Andrey Vedischev explained his decision to lead the Krasnodar team as head coach.
– On Saturday, you surprised the Russian basketball with your bold statement. What was the reason for your decision to become a head coach?
– At the moment, I do not see a coach who is capable of combining the two main tasks of our team: winning and forming a team around Russian players. And the first thing that needs to be done is to maintain a balance between our alumni and the legionnaires. I will try to quickly enter the training process and get the nuances.
– How will the team prepare for the upcoming season?
– Preparations are already in full swing, most players have been training since the end of July. All work is done on schedule and according to a clear plan. This week, legionnaires will join us, undergo a medical examination, and we will gather in full force.
– Who will be your assistants?
– Roman Semerninov, Stanislav Zbarsky and our new additions: Janko Pejcic from Runa and Artem Komogortsev who has worked in Zenit for previous 2 years but also has a history of collaboration with Loko.
– Are you planning to sign some more players?
– Not now. Our summer transfer campaign is over, now we will watch how the players will show themselves in friendlies and the SuperCup games. When the League season starts, we will know if anything needs to be changed.
– How will Loko play under your command?
– We will rely on the strengths of the players and quick decision-making on the court. It is important to me that everyone on the team understands their role on the court and feels confident. I will try to involve all players based on their readiness and abilities. Therefore, our primary task is to establish team chemistry.
