CSKA Moscow announced the signing of a contract with Alexey Shved. The agreement with the Russian guard is designed for 1+1.
After returning from the NBA in 2015, Shved played for Khimki. For 6 seasons in Moscow Region club, Alexey played 139 games in the United League and became the most productive player of the tournament twice- in 2018 (23.6 points) and 2019 (23.9). Shved also received the MVP award of the season twice (2016/17 and 2018/19). Alexey took part in the VTB League All-Star-Games for 3 times.
Alexey Shved played for CSKA in the VTB United League from 2009 to 2012 and became two-time champion with the the Army team.
– Probably, this is the loudest and most interesting signing of the off-season, – the VTB League General Manager Ilona Korstin said. -Alexey has always been a freelance artist in Khimki ,and he did whatever he wanted on the court. In CSKA, he will have to radically restructure – the Army team has strict discipline, both on and off the court. Therefore, it is interesting to see how Shved will look under the coaching of Itoudis. There is no doubt that Alexey is the best Russian player of recent years. I hope that he will prove himself in all his glory and will be able to bring wins to the team with his game, and not just points in personal stats. He is already a mature age and it’s time to move somewhere, take a new step. It is important to quickly adapt to the philosophy of the head coach and the discipline of the Army club.
