TASS information agency hosted a press conference today devoted to the Rising Stars Game, which will be held on February 11 in Sochi. VTB United League president Sergey Kushchenko, Russian Basketball Federation president Andrei Kirilenko, International Student Basketball League (MSBL) president, VTB senior vice-president, VTB Arena Park project chief Andrey Peregudov, MSBL general director Svetlana Abrosimova and Association of Student Basketball (ASB) executive director Sergey Kryukov spoke at the event.
The press conference covered the upcoming Rising Stars Game as well as future cooperation between the VTB United League, ASB and ISBL.
VTB United League president Sergey Kushchenko:
– We’ve talked about holding an All-Star Game for a long time. We’re happy the calendar finally provided a window and that we can bring all of the League’s different projects together on one court. Of course, the highlight will be the Russian Stars – World Stars game. But we have several other very important events prior to the big game: the KES-Basket school basketball league all-star game, then the Legends Game, and, of course, the Rising Stars Game.
Two wonderful leagues–ISBL and ASB–will create a united all-star team to play against our Youth League all-star team. It’s always a great game. Last season, our young players put on a show in CSKA’s arena, demonstrating quality basketball in a competitive game. I also want to point out that the Rising Stars Game will give us a chance to prepare for the All-Star Game. The TV network will be able to test and double-check everything prior to going live. It should be a great event for the fans.
