The VTB United League has declared the upcoming 2026–27 season the “Year of Remembrance for Sergei Borisovich Ivanov”—the leader who was instrumental in the League’s founding.
In connection with this, the League has prepared several initiatives. Starting this season, the VTB United League Cup will be named after Sergei Ivanov. The Russian Champions Cup, which is awarded to the League champion, will in turn be named after Sergei Belov.
A logo commemorating Sergei Borisovich will be placed in the center circle of the courts. Additionally, players and referees will wear commemorative patches on their uniforms during all matches this season.
Furthermore, all of the League’s major individual awards—MVP of the Super Cup, All-Star Game, and the regular season championship—will be named after Sergei Borisovich.
