The VTB United League Board approved the teams and format for the 2017-18 season in Moscow today.
There were no changes to the makeup of the League. 13 teams from 5 countries will compete for a championship in 2017-18.
The Board approved a new playoff format, highlighted by the Final Four on June 8-10, 2018.
The regular season will run from October 2017 to May 2018 and the top 8 teams will advance to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals now feature a 1-2-2 format (the series will open on the higher-seeded team’s court) to determine who reaches the Final Four.
The Board also approved changes to the championship regulations for the 2017-18 season. One of the biggest innovations is that the League will now have access to each club’s electronic ticketing data.
The new League logo was also presented to the Board.
