«FINAL FOUR» - IN KAUNAS

Directorate of VTB United League took decision about place of «Final four» of this season. Final stage of the tournament will be held in Lithuanian Kaunas from 21 to 22 January 2010 at home arena of local «Zalgiris» – «Sporthalle».

- The choice in favor of Kaunas is not accidental – General Director of VTB United League Andrey Shirokov comments the decision of Directorate. – Basketball is №1 in Lithuania and «Zalgiris» is its personification. We are glad that first «Final four» in history of new club competition will be held here, in legendary «Sporthalle» which is witness of great basketball personalities.

Our club is thankful to administration of the League for such an honor and faith, - marked Paulius Motiejunas General Director of «Zalgiris». – I am sure that «Final four» in Kaunas will be held on a very high organization level and will draw real spectators’ interest. Having chance I would like to invite basketball lovers from countries-participants of VTB United League to “Final four” as well as fans of three Russian teams which will compete together with «Zalgiris» for Champions Title.

We would like to remind that participants of «Final four» VTB United League were defined 1 round prior to end of preliminary rounds. These are Russian UNICS, CSKA, «Khimki» and Lithuanian «Zalgiris». Composition of semi final couples will be according to Regulation – first team from group A (UNICS) will meet second team from group B and first team from group B will meet second team from group A («Khimki») – the rest teams will be known after final games of 6th round.
