FIRST GAME OF 6th ROUND VTB UNITED LEAGUE

Revanche of “Khimki”, first loss of UNICS
 
Today in Khimki the first game of 6 th round was held.
 
The game of two Russian clubs, opening final round of VTB United League (the rest three games are to be held in new year – 9 and 10 January), did not have tournament meaning. UNICS and "Khimki" guaranteed their first and second places in the group which let them play in Final Four. Nevertheless, motivation of both of the teams for this “friendly” game was high. Sergio Scariolo’s team was eager to require for revanche for the great loss in Kazan in the first round. However, Valdemaras Homicius’s players, took 5 wins, were eager to finish preliminary round with 100% result. The guests’ aim was complicated with absence of Marko Popovic and Vladimir Veremeenko. This factor plus home gym factor, obvious victorious motivation of host team, effected the result of the game. Khimki’s players took initiative from the first quarter and in the end of the second period they had 10 points advantage. Kazan player were doing their best to change the scenario but Khimki’s did not let them – 86:74. The hero of the game was Keith Langford: American guard scores 37 points and repeated record of VTB United League set in 3rd round by Marсus Brown from "Zalgiris".
