VTB United League is new club competition founded in 2008 with aim to unite leading clubs of Eastern Europe. The fundamental principals of the League are called by clubs and basketball federations of participating clubs and are democracy and sports principal. First step in development of VTB United League was Promo Cup held in Moscow in December of 2008.

Season 2009-2010 is first complete season of new competitions which unites 8 clubs from 5 countries: Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

Future plan for VTB United League is to widen geography of the tournament, changing of competition format and increasing number of participants to 16.
